In a very dangerous position, a player in EC Calango fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 19th minute. Penalty! José Carlos Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Percival Teixeira in the 30th minute of play. José Carlos Salles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé de Senna, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. The supporters of EC Calango booed when Real Madrid CF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilian Machado didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Percival Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot. EC Calango's supporters rose to their feet, but Percival Teixeira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Carlos Salles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Percival Teixeira in the 42nd minute of play forced Real Madrid CF's goalkeeper José Carlos Salles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Dagoberto Penha managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when Real Madrid CF's Ian Queiroz fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ian Queiroz to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Zé de Senna managed to get in a good position for a shot. With a little luck, Real Madrid CF's José Carlos Salles got control of the ball when Zé de Senna tried to sneak it across the goal line. EC Calango's Dagoberto Penha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Carneiro in the 70th minute of play. 72 minutes into the match, Real Madrid CF's goalkeeper José Carlos Salles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Percival Teixeira.
