In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Germany's goalkeeper Wolffram Lanzinger, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 12 minutes into the match, Antoine Kiehl had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Šandor Szabo. Hungary's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Antoine Kiehl was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 14 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Halldor Kolb. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Márton Rigó during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Hungary getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Márton Rigó hit a great ball. Wolffram Lanzinger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from József Pálosi in the 24th minute of the match. 26 minutes into the match, Hungary's goal looked a bit too open when Antoine Kiehl came free, but Šandor Szabo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. József Pálosi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bertold Ács got free with Wolffram Lanzinger in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wolffram Lanzinger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from József Pálosi in the 88th minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Germany had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
