Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after El Salvador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Frenkie de Jong took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Frenkie de Jong got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Paradorn Todor quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Tadej Pogačar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raúl Quintanilla, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

The Netherlands fans cheered their team off the field, for while El Salvador had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
