An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Rana in the 6th minute of play forced Northern Ireland's goalkeeper Phillip Woodhall to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Svend Betz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th match minute, Northern Ireland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mitch Pearson to maneuver through the defense. After 10 played minutes, Denmark's Martin Rana shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Phillip Woodhall came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Denmark reached it. Phillip Woodhall showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martin Rana in the 14th minute of the match. In the 15th minute Martin Rana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phillip Woodhall saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kasper Schmeichel made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Ty Hislop sent off a good shot on target. Phillip Woodhall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Rana in the 21st minute of play. When Denmark's Martin Rana in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Northern Ireland's goalie prevented a goal. In the 22nd minute, Karsten Ulbak made a precise shot to the right of Phillip Woodhall. Northern Ireland's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Phillip Woodhall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Rana in the 25th minute of play. Phillip Woodhall showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Svend Betz in the 35th minute of the match. Denmark's Martin Rana managed to work through Northern Ireland's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Martin Rana dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. After 42 played minutes Northern Ireland got a freekick which was hit by Lloyd Mumford. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Svend Betz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Denmark's supporters rose to their feet, but Svend Betz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Phillip Woodhall breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 45 played minutes Northern Ireland got a freekick which was hit by Joey England. Phillip Woodhall came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Denmark's Martin Rana. But to his dismay, Martin Rana quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. After the first half Denmark were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rodney Cunningham to strike the kick off in the second half. Phillip Woodhall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Svend Betz in the 52nd minute of play. In the 52ndth minute of the game Svend Betz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Northern Ireland's Phillip Woodhall was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 54 minutes, Phillip Woodhall successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Phillip Woodhall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Svend Betz in the 56th minute of play. Svend Betz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Phillip Woodhall made a huge save. Phillip Woodhall took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martin Rana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Phillip Woodhall was out of position in the 79 minute of play, and Ditlev Delmont capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ditlev Delmont really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Denmark's Loui Lintlav was substituted for Svend Betz. Kasper Schmeichel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy Boyce in the 84th minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 85th minute by Karsten Ulbak got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Denmark were awarded a corner in the 90th minute after Northern Ireland's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Elo Altoft took the corner. In the 92nd minute Kiera Archer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kasper Schmeichel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 94 minutes into the match, Peter Smith had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kasper Schmeichel. Denmark's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Peter Smith was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. Denmark's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
