When Simon Caicedo fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FURIA MACHALEÑA S.C's protests and gave Simon Caicedo a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to FURIA MACHALEÑA S.C getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Botello Pinto came out of the goal and Cintya Viteri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A hard shot 47 in the game by Estrada Azcona from a close distance when the talented Botello Pinto managed to make a qualified save. FURIA MACHALEÑA S.C's players were relieved. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

FURIA MACHALEÑA S.C's Botello Pinto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Estrada Azcona in the 51st minute of play. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by FURIA MACHALEÑA S.C's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gilberto Sarmento was slow to take the kick. During this time CD Suscal's players had a chance to rest. CD Suscal's Quiñónez Venegas was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Botello Pinto in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.
