Larmahue's defense didn't have a chance, in the 9th minute, when Joel Arteche scored to the left of an out of position Mercurio Aristizaval, making the score, 1-0. In the 13th minute of the match Arcadio Pastene shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mercurio Aristizaval showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 15th minute, CD La Serena's Joel Arteche ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Mercurio Aristizaval. Mercurio Aristizaval yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. In the 21stth minute of the game Enrique Mariano Mac Kay who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CD La Serena's Luis Javier Gálvez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Rafael Maria Carson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Mercurio Aristizaval tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A hard shot 29 in the game by Eufemio Friz from a close distance when the talented Mercurio Aristizaval managed to make a qualified save. Larmahue's players were relieved. Enrique Mariano Mendieta hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Isadoro Castex received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Luis Javier Gálvez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eufemio Friz's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 39thth minute, Mercurio Aristizaval skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Rafael Maria Carson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mercurio Aristizaval having to interfere. When Isadoro Castex came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Larmahue fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isadoro Castex couldn't finish the play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

54 minutes into the match, Adán Reveco notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Larmahue's Mercurio Aristizaval. Mercurio Aristizaval was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Romeo Durney's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mercurio Aristizaval read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. In the 60th minute, Adalberto Parada had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. Enrique Mariano Mac Kay charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Enrique Mariano Mac Kay the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of CD La Serena booed when Larmahue was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enrique Mariano Mac Kay didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 65th minute, Eufemio Friz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rafael Maria Carson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rafael Maria Carson might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mercurio Aristizaval. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rafael Maria Carson ran back to his position shaking his head. Mercurio Aristizaval took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eufemio Friz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mercurio Aristizaval came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by CD La Serena's Eufemio Friz. But to his dismay, Eufemio Friz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. When Isadoro Castex fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Larmahue's protests and gave Isadoro Castex a yellow card for diving instead. In the 82nd minute, Fortunato Javia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mercurio Aristizaval showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eufemio Friz in the 84th minute of the match. 88 minutes into the game, CD La Serena's Rafael Maria Carson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mercurio Aristizaval made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. In the 91st match minute, Larmahue was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lolo Leyton to maneuver through the defense. When Eufemio Friz got free in front of the goal in the 96th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Mercurio Aristizaval was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar.
