André Sena came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Racing F. C's Paulo José de Lima. But to his dismay, Paulo José de Lima quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. The supporters of Uruguaiana booed when Racing F. C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Carlos Mandrak didn't get a good kick on the ball. 27 minutes into the game, Dagoberto Simão was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Racing F. C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Uruguaiana the free kick. Dagoberto Simão hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luís Fabiano Mattos in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cícero Maciel saved Racing F. C from getting behind. Jânio Cavalcante's late challenge caught a Uruguaiana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jânio Cavalcante helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Racing F. C's Jânio Cavalcante got a free kick in the 31st minute. When the match clock showed 32 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Luís Fabiano Mattos sped through Racing F. C's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Cícero Maciel. The supporters of Uruguaiana booed when Racing F. C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dagoberto Simão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luís Fabiano Mattos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cícero Maciel having to make a save. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Marcelo Sousa put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Cícero Maciel. After some careless play in the Racing F. C defense, Gerson Couto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cícero Maciel. The Racing F. C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cícero Maciel should have stopped the shot.

In the 51st minute, Uruguaiana's Jorginho Britto dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-4. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jorginho Britto in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cícero Maciel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Gerson Couto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Racing F. C's Cícero Maciel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorginho Britto in the 58th minute of play. The supporters of Uruguaiana booed when Racing F. C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Carlos Mandrak didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd play minute Luís Fabiano Mattos came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Cícero Maciel. 1-5. Cícero Maciel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorginho Britto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Uruguaiana's Gerson Couto pulled a muscle in his leg after 67 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 68 minutes into the game, José Carlos Mandrak was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Racing F. C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Uruguaiana the free kick. A collision led to Racing F. C getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. José Carlos Mandrak hit a great ball. Uruguaiana made a substitution. Marquinhos Diniz replaced Marcelo Sousa. Uruguaiana's Flávio Veloso was substituted for Gerson Couto. After a rather tough play, Racing F. C's José Carlos Mandrak got a free kick in the 69th minute. The supporters of Uruguaiana booed when Racing F. Ulysses Rezende didn't get a good kick on the ball. 85 minutes into the game, Chico Pombal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. With his leg Cícero Maciel managed to avoid a goal in the 91stth minute, when Uruguaiana's Aníbal Varela fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 92 minutes into the game, Aníbal Varela lined in a short shot 1-7 behind a frustrated Cícero Maciel. A hard shot 96 in the game by Flávio Veloso from a close distance when the talented Cícero Maciel managed to make a qualified save. Racing F. C's players were relieved.
