In the 89th minute, Joinville S.German-FSCMZ's Elias Vale seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Elias Vale the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Joinville S.German-FSCMZ protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Elias Vale had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 89 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Joinville S.German-FSCMZ! Benny Stolpe had in the 91stth minute some difficulties stopping Paulinho Lopez's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. If Sandro Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
