Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Graeme Sharp to make the kick off. Eddie Baptist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruce Cooper having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Port Edinburgh AFC's Eddie Baptist got a free kick in the 92nd minute. In the 93rd minute of the match Alessandro Sarmento sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tony McHarold skillfully saved the ball. Alloa Golden Blades's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
