The supporters of FC Killer Elite booed when Willem2 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danny Brinks didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 16th minute, one of Willem2:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Willem2. Otto Heuvel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edmondo Battisti read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Edward van Zeist kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Gert Degens was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 28 minutes into the match. A collision led to Willem2 getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Gert Degens hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Willem2's zone, Carel van der Tol stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmondo Battisti came out of the goal and Carel van der Tol tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Willem2's attentive Robert-Jan Schiphouwer managed to snatch the ball when Victor Plenter made a throw-in in the 32nd minute of the game. 33 minutes into the game, Falco Carel threw the ball into play from the sideline. Willem2's Jim van Veldhuizen quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Edmondo Battisti was out of position in the 37 minute of play, and Edward van Zeist capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Edward van Zeist really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Klaas Grijpstra's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Edmondo Battisti firmly grabbed it by the left post. Edmondo Battisti showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward van Zeist in the 42nd minute of the match. Martijn Bömker charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Martijn Bömker the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Willem2 getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. The Willem2 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edmondo Battisti should have stopped the shot. 80 minutes into the match, Willem2's goal looked a bit too open when Otto Heuvel came free, but Edmondo Battisti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edmondo Battisti made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bob Karelse in the 81st minute of play. Edmondo Battisti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward van Zeist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
