The supporters of Weena booed when Loveren was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dolf Bosma didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 10th minute, Loveren's Roland Pothuizen seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Roland Pothuizen the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Loveren protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Roland Pothuizen had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Thomasse got free with Gerben Eylens in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Weena would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
