Egon Lång went to the cornerflag to take it. Ivar Ekegren was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Wei Sen Xiong had several of the Filfla United's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 38 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-2 score and a disappointed Etienne Blanco as he didn't even see the shot coming. If Dragoş Afloarei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After the first half Filfla United were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Etienne Blanco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wei Sen Xiong, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 56 minutes into the match, Filfla United's goal looked a bit too open when Darren Carabott came free, but Etienne Blanco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dragoş Afloarei in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aaron Tanti saved Eleven Young Elephants from getting behind. Nicholas Quintano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Etienne Blanco having to make a save. The audience was convinced that Dragoş Afloarei's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aaron Tanti was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Darren Carabott might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Etienne Blanco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Darren Carabott ran back to his position shaking his head. Dragoş Afloarei hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Filfla United's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
