Sliema Dragons FC's Gábor Illés quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Ulises Ixidor kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Kim Bolas might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mats Sangolt. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kim Bolas ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 13th minute Kim Bolas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mats Sangolt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Sliema Dragons FC's Kim Bolas in the 17th minute got a chance for a shot 17th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kim Bolas in the 19th minute of play forced Floriana Celtics's goalkeeper Mats Sangolt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mats Sangolt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kim Bolas in the 20th minute of the match. Sliema Dragons FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ulises Ixidor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mats Sangolt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kim Bolas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Floriana Celtics's Mats Sangolt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kim Bolas in the 47th minute of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kyle Thake stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Floriana Celtics's goal looked a bit too open when Kim Bolas came free, but Mats Sangolt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Floriana Celtics defense, Kim Bolas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mats Sangolt. The Floriana Celtics fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mats Sangolt should have stopped the shot. Floriana Celtics made a substitution. Fredrik Markusson replaced Godwin Montesin. Sliema Dragons FC were awarded a corner in the 61th minute after Floriana Celtics's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Leszek Cupial took the corner. The corner ended in Selman Onkal almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Floriana Celtics's Mats Sangolt did a great save. Vihren Sirenyakov hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kim Bolas in the 68th minute of play forced Floriana Celtics's goalkeeper Mats Sangolt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 69 minutes into the match, Sliema Dragons FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Testaferrata Viani came free, but Mike Axisa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sliema Dragons FC made a substitution. Dejan Cassar replaced Kim Bolas. 72 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sliema Dragons FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Matt Carabott was slow to take the kick. During this time Floriana Celtics's players had a chance to rest. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Testaferrata Viani in the 74th minute of play forced Sliema Dragons FC's goalkeeper Mike Axisa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Claudio Bailey made in the 79th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Sliema Dragons FC's Timmy Vallengren. In the 81st minute, Dejan Cassar left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sliema Dragons FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Mats Sangolt stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dejan Cassar's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. 87 minutes into the match, Dejan Cassar dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Mats Sangolt, 0-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Dejan Cassar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sliema Dragons FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dejan Cassar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mats Sangolt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Sliema Dragons FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
